Abstract: This passage from Luke is an icon-text that inspires the pastoral action of many
Christian communities in our continent and presents one of the paradigms of Latin American
biblical hermeneutics: a reading of Scripture made from life and a new interpretation of life,
arising from this believing reading of Scripture. This contribution asks about the role of life in
this biblical hermeneutics and the quality that makes Scripture a factor that generates identity
and commitment
